Quick Concept Summary
Data interpretation is not a separate maths universe. It combines percentages, ratios, averages, and careful reading under a chart.
Reading Order
1. Read title and unit. 2. Identify rows, columns, or legends. 3. Note whether values are absolute, percentage, or cumulative. 4. Solve only the asked comparison.
Worked Examples
Example 1
Sales rise from 240 to 300.
Increase = 60
Percentage increase = 60/240 x 100 = 25%
Example 2
A pie-chart sector is 90 degrees.
Share = 90/360 x 100 = 25%
Common DI Formats
- Tables
- Bar charts
- Line graphs
- Pie charts
- Mixed charts
Practice Questions
1. Production rises from 500 to 625. Find percentage increase. 2. A category occupies 72 degrees in a pie chart. Find its share. 3. Revenue values are 120, 180, 210, 290. Find the average.
