The P-E-E Structure (Point → Explanation → Example)
For every descriptive answer, use this structure:
Example: "What are Fundamental Rights?" (5 marks)
The Indian Constitution guarantees six Fundamental Rights to all citizens under Articles 12–35, Part III. (1) Right to Equality (Arts 14–18): Prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, sex. (2) Right to Freedom (Arts 19–22): Includes freedom of speech, movement, and protection against arbitrary arrest. (3) Right against Exploitation (Arts 23–24): Prohibits human trafficking and child labour. (4) Right to Freedom of Religion (Arts 25–28): Guarantees religious freedom to all. (5) Cultural and Educational Rights (Arts 29–30): Minorities may establish educational institutions. (6) Right to Constitutional Remedies (Art 32): Dr. Ambedkar called this the "heart and soul" of the Constitution — allows citizens to approach the Supreme Court directly.
Word count: ~120 words. Clean, structured, point-wise.
Answer Writing Rules
DO
- Start with a direct definition or statement — never waste the first sentence
- Number your points (1, 2, 3) — makes the answer easy to evaluate
- Use sub-headings for 10-mark answers (e.g., "Economic Impact:", "Social Impact:")
- Give Tamil Nadu examples wherever possible — examiners notice this
- Write legibly — untidy writing loses 10–15% of marks even with correct content
- Manage time — allocate time per section, don't overwrite on early questions
DON'T
- Don't write long introductions explaining what you're going to write
- Don't repeat the question back as the first sentence
- Don't use bullet points for Part I (Tamil/English) — use prose
- Don't leave answers blank — even a partial structured answer earns partial marks
- Don't use English terms in Tamil paper (except technical terms)
